Hon. Nabilah Sempala sings "If I were a boy" at Milege Acoustic Project

Kampala Woman MP Hon. Nabilah Naggayi Sempala has proved she is not only a parliamentarian, politician and activist but also a good, actually a great singer and musician. The Honourable MP was  at Milege Acoustic Project at Makerere University Guest House on Thursday where she took to stage and sung the famous Beyonce song "If I were a boy."

Hon. Nabilah was actually not hit by most musical conundrums that are usually associated with star hopefuls hitting any musical stage for the first time searching for that hidden talent inside them. She easily and very well coordinated with the instrumentalists and her co singer and her voice didn't get out of range making her an epitome of a great singer and musician. She swept all the revelers by their feet with a very pop song and she did it well, adding humour and with a very great stage presence.

She was one of the most talked about performers of the night and she was sharing the stage with Ugandan representatives to last year's Tusker Project Fame, the Undercover Brothers Ug, Milege Afrojaz Band and the ever growing talents of the Milege Acosutic Project.

The Milege Acoustic Project happens every Thursday at the Makerere University Guest starting 7:30pm up to 10:30pm and it's a mic for anyone who wishes to sing, recite a poem, tell a story, play a game or act a skit and play an instrument.

Desire Luzinda apologises to fans, family and the public

You might remember Desire Luzinda from her music like Nina Omwami, or from her recently released nudes which have been the talk of Kampala and crazed up the media and popularized the V and breast pose. But whichever way you may want or refuse to know her, she has released an apology to her fans, family and the public. In her statement on her Facebook page, Desire Luzinda wrote these;   "To all my fans in Uganda and all over the world, as you might be aware, there has been a lot of fanfare and discussion in the media and social media about my photos taken in private that were leaked to the public by a jilted lover.

The facts about this matter are that these were photos taken in privacy with someone I loved. In our private moments, we all have our “moments of madness”. The bottom line is that I trusted this person and never hoped that something done in private would find its way to the public domain irrespective of our differences.

I am aware that for many people who looked up to me as a role model, to the fans who adore my music , to the young generation that looks up to artistes like me as a symbol of the importance of grooming and growing talent, these photos must have been an upset.

I want to sincerely apologize to my mother, to my daughter, to my family, to my friends, my fans and any other people who have been offended by these images. Like I said, this was a breach of trust by someone I loved. I take full responsibility for having lost my mind to take such shameful pics. This person has not only abused that trust but now seeks to drag me down.

Those who have interacted closely with me know I am a decent person, a doting mother and an industrious woman. These images in no way should define who I am.

Let me also thank my numerous fans who have stood by me in this period—asking me to be firm amidst the tempest.

Just to let you know, the responsible authorities are doing everything possible to ensure I get justice. Once again, accept my sincere apologies.

Thank you,

Desire Luzinda."     You are a brave girl Desire and we pray that you get through all this very soon.

IS KIM KARDASHIAN REALLY COMING TO UGANDA?

Kim Kardashian
You may know her as Kim Kardashian, or Kanye West's wife, or mama North, whatever you choose to call her. Well, she is known for ever flaunting her booty on and off the big screen but has always been betrayed by her private screen at home, which usually outs her booty in its full totality.

Mrs. West is actually not coming to Uganda, at least not even a single rumour has it, but it seems like her camera network at her home is spreading a dangerous virus around the world by commanding celebs' cameras, friends and relatives to out their private pictures. Remember she is the queen of nudes and they usually find their way out. Whether leaked or deliberately released by a hater, I still call it the Kim Kardashian virus. The list of celebrities that have seen their private photos on the public album include Miley Cyrus, Rihannah, Nicki Minaji, and not missing my list are our Ugandan celebrities Cindy Sanyu, Brenda Nambi, and many more.
Musician Desire Luzinda

Oh, My God, how did I forget the new nude social media sensation, Desire Luzinda? Apparently, everybody on facebook posts nude pictures of this queen or better do her V and teat cover pose. Patrick Kanyomozi, Bobi Wine and Capital Fm's Daniel Irish have all mimicked desire's pose. However Daniel Irish's picture, which had been posted on the KT20 on 91.3 capital fm page has been brought down already.

So many Ugandan celebs have been victims of this virus but other celebs mimicking them has not been common. The Kim Kardashian virus has now given birth to a V and teat pose in Kampala. My opinion on this whole Desire V-pose thing is that celebrities should not be making fun of their colleagues but instead try to console them when such problems erupt. The thing is that you are all in the public eye and you never know when the wheel of fortune crashes you too.

Milege Afrojazz Band
Milege Acoustic Project is one of a kind that supports and nurtures new talent in the arts industry. An evening at the Makerere University Guest House with young  poets, instrumentalists, singers, story tellers, skit actors, rappers, name it, most of whom are university students, fresh graduates and soon to be campusers, is one of the best experiences of watching talents grow.

The Milege Acoustic Project has been gradually magnetically pulling young talents from all places around Makerere University and these days people are coming from as far as Mukono, Wakiso, some from Jinja and Entebbe, to come be part of the event every Thursday of the week. The Milege Acoustic Project stars have covered different songs from new and old musicians and bands including, but not limited to, Celine Dion, Chaka Khan, Bebe Cool, Wes Madiko, Of Monsters and Men, The Script,Youssou N'Dour, Adele, Chris Brown, El SueƱo de Morfeo.Original compositions have also been showcased by the "graduates" of the project.

The poets, story tellers, dancers, skit actors etc have also graced the Milege Acoustic Project stage with their mouth watering performances, leaving the crowds yearning for more.

The Fair Maiden with Rahma of stage
Stars already exist at the Milege Acoustic Project and some regular attendees always leave happy when their stars perform. The stars on most people's lips are Wake- a poet, Rahma - a dancer/singer, Maria - a singer, Bill - instrumentalist/singer, Josh - the king of mash-ups, the Bad Boys and the Fair Maiden.

Once in a while Uganda's new music sensation, Undercover Brothers Ug, perform on the same stage with their fans and Milege Afrojazz Band, the organizers of this project, usually close the event late in the night with their beautiful vocals and unique afro fusion instrumentation. Actually, every performer on this stage has a sweet voice and an electrifying performance thanks to the project's sound manager, who makes sure his systems are well tuned and never blackout in the middle of a performance

With a bonfire
While enjoying all this, Makerere University Guest House, one of the sponsors of the project, serves some delicious tea with snacks. There is also a bonfire and you can enjoy some really sweet roasts, sometimes fresh maize, nyama-choma etc.

The Milege Acoustic Project events happen every Thursday at Makerere University Guest House starting from 7:30pm to 10:30pm and the entrance is absolutely free. It's the only show without an entry fee, but still worth going for.
